Our Rating:

Type of Margarita Tasted: Red Fish Rita, Frozen Gold Rita

Ingredients Listed on Menu: Red Fish Rita - Sauza Gold tequila, Grand Marnier, sweet & sour, splash of cranberry juice, Frozen Gold Rita - Sauza Gold tequila, Triple Sec, sweet & sour

Review: The frozen gold rita at the Downtown Aquarium was lacking in overall flavor. Any hint of a tequila taste was missing which was a huge disappointment. Overall the red fish rita was the superior margarita of the two tested. The splash of cranberry juice didn't push the sweetness over the top, producing a smooth margarita.

Our Rating:

Type of Margarita Tasted: Grand gold margarita, house margarita

Ingredients Listed on Menu: Grand gold margarita - 1800 Reposado tequila, Grand Marnier

Review: The newly expanded El Matador Mexican Bar and Grill provides an excellent setting for your margarita consuming experience. We particularly enjoyed the excellently crafted flavor balanced grand gold margarita. The drink had more of a lime taste than sweet sugary taste and paired nicely with their tasty fajitas.

Our Rating:

Type of Margarita Tasted: Gil's Top Shelf on the rocks

Ingredients Listed on Menu: Cavalino tequila and "original recipe"

Review: The secret to Gil's Top Shelf margarita is in the fresh ingredients, original recipe and premium tequila. This margarita has a refreshing lime taste and does not have the overly sweet mix taste some other restaurant margaritas exhibit. The owner has years of knowledge in creating margaritas and it shows with this drink.

25825 Northwest Fwy, Cypress, TX 77429 (map)Chili's Bar and Grill Presidente Margarita

Our Rating:

Type of Margarita Tasted: Presidente Margarita

Ingredients Listed on Menu: Sauza Conmemorativo tequila, Presidente Brandy, Cointreau and lime juice

Review: The Presidente is Chili's signature margarita. This beverage is served to your table in a bright blue shaker you can take home for two dollars. The presentation is there and so is the taste. It's a smooth drink that benefits from the fresh ingredients. The sweetness is on the low side which is a plus.

Type of Margarita Tasted: Zia Margarita on the rocks, Frozen House Margarita and Blue Moon Margarita on the rocks

Ingredients Listed on Menu: Zia Margarita - Patron Silver tequila, Cointreau and Grand Marnier; Blue Moon Margarita - Don Eduardo tequila, Cointreau and Blue Curacao

Review: Santa Fe Flats produces the ultimate atmosphere to enjoy a margarita. At our visit on a Wednesday, we were treated to a guitarist that played various songs including Jimmy Buffet's "Margaritaville" while restaurant patrons sang along. The specials on house margaritas that day were unbeatable and so was the taste. We highly recommend the Zia Margarita. This margarita has a strong but balanced taste and is easy to drink. The weather was too cold this time but the well decorated patio area looks like a great place to sit next time we visit.

Address
:
5941 Bellaire Blvd, Houston, TX 77081 (map)Pico's Mex Mex Restaurant

Our Rating:

Type of Margarita Tasted: The Golden on the rocks, The Perfect on the rocks

Ingredients Listed on Menu: The Golden - Jimador reposado, Grand Marnier & fresh lime juice, The Perfect - Herradura silver, Cointreau & fresh lime juice

Review: Pico's margarita's are extremely fresh. They must have a team of workers slaving away in the back squeezing limes all day. The perfect margarita was the better of the two tasted. This version was smooth and the fresh lime juice was a plus. The menu states that they hold the record for the world's largest margarita. That is no longer true but was quite impressive at the time.
