Type of Margarita Tasted: Big Texan Double Agave Margarita
Ingredients Listed on Menu: Sauza Conmemorativo, Agavero Agave liqueur and Patron Citronage orange liqueur and margarita mix
Review: It's called the Big Texas for a reason; this margarita combines a massive collection of flavorful ingredients into a jumbo glass. This drink has a complex taste produced from their selection of liqueurs and tequila. We found this margarita a tad too sweet for our palates, making it slightly harder to guzzle down the giant beverage. Using a less cloying margarita mix and one with a sour profile could make this drink phenomenal.

Type of Margarita Tasted: House Margarita

Review: Xuco Xicana replaced El Patio in the same location under a new name and restaurant concept. We previously reviewed their potent blue margaritas which still exist on the new menu. This time around we went on the less venturous side and decided to sample the house margarita. The lime character dominated while letting through a subtle hint of tequila. While two of these may not knock you on the floor like its blue older brother, this margarita is extremely smooth and easy to drink.

Type of Margarita Tasted: Don Julio Margarita on the rocks
Ingredients Listed on Menu: Don Julio Blanco tequila, Grand Marnier
Review: During our visit to Cyclone Anaya's, we decided on the jumbo Don Julio margarita directly off of their selective drink menu. The oversized drink was delivered promptly and we dove right into our sampling. This well mixed drink had an excellent taste of fresh lime juice with the tequila pushing its way through. All of the ingredients were mixed to the perfect ratio, making this a well executed cocktail that is impressively smooth.

Type of Margarita Tasted: Sauza Margarita
Ingredients Listed on Menu: Sauza tequila, sweet and sour mix
Review: We were surprised to see a recent menu revision at a Houston area Chipolte, which now includes "Sauza Margarita" and "Patron Margarita" instead of just the generic description of "Margarita". After ordering our burrito and the cocktail, the cashier turned around and poured the drink using a pre-made margarita mix and Sauza tequila. The texture and taste came across as mildly syrupy, a trait created by this particular brand of mix. The generous amount of tequila not only made this a stiff beverage but assisted in detracting from what could have been an overly thick drink.. Due to a lack of any measuring tools, it is likely your experience with this beverage may vary slightly.

Type of Margarita Tasted: Blue Margarita
Ingredients Listed on Menu: none
Review: The El Patio blue margaritas, long rumored to be spiked with Everclear, make our list as one of the most potent drinks. While strong in alcohol and consumption should be limited to maybe two, the flavor does not ultimately suffer. Through each sip, hints of lime make their way to your tongue distracting it from potential alcohol burn. If rating on a buzz scale, this cocktail receives a five rating but for a margarita as a whole, we find it just slightly above average.

Type of Margarita Tasted: Platinum Margarita on the rocks and House Margarita frozen
Ingredients Listed on Menu: none
Review: Our latest margarita endeavors placed us at El Tiempo on Richmond Avenue. We were able to sample two drinks directly off of their cocktail menu, the house and platinum margarita. Topping the duo was the frozen house margarita, which had a strong lime and tequila flavoring. There were no objections at our table when ordering a second round of this version. Our platinum margarita faired poorly as it tasted like juice with little to no tequila bite. The discrepancy in flavor was disappointing because the platinum boasted a higher end tequila which equals higher price.
