Type of Margarita Tasted: Ole Ultimate - Frozen and on the rocks w/ salt
Ingredients Listed on Menu: Sauza Conmemorativo, Grand Marnier and Cointreau
Review: The "Ole Ultimate" from Cafe Ole, "Home of the 60oz margarita", is amazing. The mix is perfect and the top shelf alcohol completes the phenomenal taste. We preferred the on the rocks version over the frozen because you could better taste all the excellent flavors. The day before we went to Cafe Ole, we thought we heard someone say this restaurant had the best margarita in San Antonio. We haven't tasted every margarita in San Antonio (yet) but I could see how this statement is true. We ordered a 60oz and five people shared.

Type of Margarita Tasted: Jumbo top shelf frozen

Review: El Palenque impresses with both the margaritas and the food. The rich flavor of the top shelf margarita will definitely have you ordering another. The balanced mixture of ingredients along with just the right sweetness provides a wonderful smooth taste. When the weather is nice, try one out on patio. Delicious!

Type of Margarita Tasted: Jumbo frozen Jose Cuervo gold w/ salt
Ingredients Listed on Menu: "Secret Recipe"
Review: These margaritas have a nice taste. They are not too sweet and not too rich. Not sure what the "secret recipe" is but it works nicely. While not super smooth, the typical alcohol burn of Cuervo gold is almost noticeable because of the blend of other ingredients.

Type of Margarita Tasted: 1800 Legendary Margarita and Texas "Twist" Margarita
Ingredients Listed on Menu: 1800 Legendary Margarita (1800 Reposado Tequila, Grand Marnier Liquer and fresh squeezed lime juice.)
Review: The first margarita we ordered, the 1800 Legendary, had an overpowering tequila taste. We could barely taste any of the other flavors. Afterwards, we ordered another of the exact same drink and it tasted completely different. It was extremely sweet and tasted like it had no alcohol. We had three others in our group taste the drink and they agreed. We had the waitress take it back to the bartender. She said more tequila was added but it tasted exactly the same. The Texas "Twist" was somewhat tasty but nothing to get excited over. The inconsistencies between drinks and tolerable taste make these margaritas average at best.Address: 3240 Fondren Rd, Houston, TX 77063 (map)

Type of Margarita Tasted: Regular w/ salt on the rocks
Ingredients Listed on Menu: none
Review: Their margarita's look nice visually; dressed with a thinly sliced lime on the rim of the cup. That's about the only positive though. The drink is excessively sweet and barely tastes like it has any alcohol. Taqueria Mexico is definitely not a good place to go if you are looking to drink margaritas. The food is good though.Address: 820 Fm 1960 Rd W Houston, TX 77090 (map)

Review: The regular margaritas here are strong and tasty. I have not had the gold version to compare but I imagine they are toxic (in a good way). The regular margaritas do not disappoint. They go down smooth and have just the right sweetness. These margaritas go great with any meal or if you want to drink them alone.
