Starting in January, we asked our visitors to send us their votes for which restaurant in Texas they think serves up the best margarita. We received numerous votes and in the end when everything was tallied, Rudy’s Grill and Cantina in Cypress took the title.
We presented owner, Rudy Zuniga, who has over 25 years of experience in the Mexican restaurant business in and around Houston, a plaque for this achievement. Mr. Zuniga attributes the success of his margaritas to ingredients and not changing his recipe to promote cheap specials.
In March, we visited Rudy’s because their website boasted that they serve the “best margarita in Texas”. The margaritas did not disappoint and in our review, we noted ” Rudy’s offers an extremely friendly staff and wonderful margarita drinking experience”.
Other restaurants receiving top visitor votes included Cafe Adobe (Houston), El Patio (Houston) and El Chico (Waco).
Look out next year for the start of our 2009 round of voting. Along with best visitor voted margarita, Margarita Texas will also present a second award for our pick of best margarita we tried during the year.
