On July 8th, 2011, Margarita Texas hosted the Margarita Challenge Grand Finale along with Don Julio’s Mexican Restaurant with Don Julio Tequila. The event was held at Don Julio’s Cypress location (25250 Northwest Freeway, Suite 190, Cypress, Texas 77429). This particular site was chosen because it’s a top notch venue and the restaurant was chosen by visitors of MargaritaTexas.com as having the Best Restaurant Margarita in Texas for 2010.
Throughout May and June, you were asked to enter your own margarita recipe for a chance to win $200 in cash and prizes along with ultimate bragging rights. The selected individual would have their Don Julio Tequila based margarita added to Don Julio’s Restaurant cocktail menu for one month.
All top selected entries were made and judged blindly by Margarita Texas with the winner announced at the live event. In the end, the margarita that scored the highest was Scott Williams’ agave nectar based drink. Scott mentioned that his margarita was “good for diabetics and people who are allergic to glutton” and created it specifically with his neighbor in mind that suffers from these these ailments.
Winning Margarita Recipe:

1/2 oz Grand Marnier
