In this months edition of our monthly tequila review we touch on yet another style of tequila when we taste this reposado from Casta Pasion. Unlike a blanco which is not aged, a reposado is generally aged a minimum of two months but less than a year in oak barrels.
This time spent in the barrel gives Catsa Pasion reposado its subtle oak characteristics in the taste and nose. It finishes dry with hints of spiciness and black pepper.
Casta Pasion is a 100% blue agave and this 750ml bottle cost around $30 at a local liquor store. We found this to be a good value for it’s quality especially against tequilas in the same price range.
We believe a good reposado tequila compliments the lime base and orange liqueur in a margarita. The oak notes add to the complexity of the drink creating some unique flavors.
