Tequila Ley 925 Anejo Review

By Tequila Reviews

tequila ley 925 anejo

From the makers of the $3.5 million world’s most expensive tequila comes Tequila Ley Anejo. This is our first time sampling a tequila from the company and we decided to go straight for one of their top offerings. This is obviously not their “top” offering but our budget was a little under $3.5 million so this will have to do for now.

This bottle instantly jumps into our top favorite designs, joining the ranks of Kah and Esperanto tequila. The overall design concept is a dragon theme, from the scales covering the bottle to the metal dragons tooth hanging around the neck. Tequila Ley comes in a box so you will have to look for their logo instead of the stunning bottle on the shelf.  While the box does cover up the unique design, it makes a nice package if you were to gift it to someone.

According to their website, the tequila is aged 18 months in oak barrels. The aroma and initial flavors are mostly agave, vanilla with a mild wood presence.  It’s a little light in the body which we believe contributed to an additional impression of smoothness. This anejo is easy to sip and a few friends that normally do not sip tequila found that it went down easy.

This tequila costs about $52.99 for a 750ml bottle which is only $3,499,947.01 cheaper than it’s rich uncle platinum and diamond coated Tequila Ley .925. Since we haven’t won the lottery recently, this version is more in our price range and about what you would pay for similar quality tequilas.

Because of it’s overall appeal to all that tried this tequila, we recommend this anejo.  The packaging makes it great for a gift or just a unique piece to sit in your bar. If you have tried Tequila Ley, we would like to hear about it in the comments below. If you  have a bottle of the world’s most expensive tequila and would like to share, please email us.

Disappointing Smoky Bacon Margarita at the State Fair

By News

Having lived in Texas our entire lives, one of the activities we had yet to do was visit the State Fair of Texas in Dallas.  The fair is held yearly at the historic Fair Park which has taken place every year since 1886 except for periods during World War I and World War II. Since we were in the area, we decided to drop by and see how much weight we could gain.

Filled with fried foods, carnival rides and games, the Texas State Fair has plenty to do to fill your entire day. The features of the event that appear to get the most press are the unusual foods, ranging from fried jell-o, deep fried pulled pork “funyun” dings and deep fried bacon burger dog sliders on a stick. One item that seemed to get a lot of attention the past few years is the smoky bacon margarita which won the most creative award in 2015.

We were curious to try the beverage and grabbed one almost immediately. The best part about the drink is the bacon itself which is smoky, fresh tasting and …. is bacon. Visually,  it looks like someone dropped some bacon bits on neon green play-doh. Once you make it past the delicious bacon pieces, your taste buds are greeted with intense sweetness, artificial lime and absolutely no tequila flavor. The smokiness of the bacon stops at the bacon itself and is not infused in any way with the contents of the drink. Once you have gobbled up the droppings of bacon, you are left with a nice looking collector’s cup filled with a disappointing overly green frozen margarita-like substance.

While walking by one of the many carnival games, an employee stopped to ask what we thought about the drink. We shared our not so positive opinion and he echoed that was what he was hearing throughout the length of the fair. It seems this smoky bacon margarita is more a novelty rather than a culinary masterpiece.  We recommend saving your coupons and spending them on something better like tossing rings over a Coke bottle for the opportunity to win a stuffed unicorn.

Celebrate National IPA Day With A Cocktail

By News

IPA-Margarita     On the first day of August, many people around the world will be celebrating celebrating the India Pale Ale (IPA), a hoppy style beer with an interesting history. According to CraftBeer.com, IPA Day was founded in 2011, as a universal movement created to unite the voices of craft beer enthusiasts, bloggers and brewers worldwide, using social media as the common arena for connecting the conversation. International Beer Day is in the first part of August and we featured a beer margarita, so you might see where this is going.

We have made many beer margaritas before but typically used lighter style beers (think Corona or Bud Light) . After hearing that the bitterness of an IPA paired perfectly with the woodiness of a reposado tequila, we decided to try a variation of a popular IPA margarita recipe. The combination worked perfectly as the flavors really complimented each other.

What beers have you tried in a margarita? Let us know in the comments below.
